Again it was a beautiful day. The crowd was a little larger than it has been for the second Saturday team.

The near miss Security Concern involved a gentleman who arrived at the meal about 10 minutes late. Due to the size of the crowd we had already served all of the hot meal. We had a bag lunch to offer him but he was visibly frustrated that he did not receive a hot meal.

After members of the team tried to calm him down by offering him the bag lunch, some extra bread that we had and some drink, he only got more frustrated.

To diffuse the situation the team went about our business breaking down and cleaning up from the meal. We allowed him to vent as we as a team dispursed. We followed the new safety guidelines developed by the Social Concerns ministry at Sacred Heart and made sure that all team members were safely in their cars before we left.

We served 7 lasagnas yesterday and when we were done serving everyone their first serving we had about 4 left over. We allowed folks who were hanging around looking for seconds to take these, as we normally do. Hindsight being 20/20 we may have should have held onto the 4 last ones for stragglers.

There was also a woman in the group that we served who was asking for cash to buy a bus pass. That woman was refered to me by a team member. I politely told the woman that our ministry only provides food and does not provide money.

Thank you to all the members of the second saturday team.
